Known problems

At the time of publication, the following problems were known:
  • If you uninstall Informix version 11.50, restart the computer before you install another version of Informix
  • Windows firewall exception is needed before installation

Before you install Informix on Windows operating systems, make a Windows firewall exception for the TCP listening port that is used by Informix. By default, the Informix port is 9088; however, you can specify a different port number during installation.

  • Removing users when you uninstall the database server

If there are multiple installations of the product on the computer, and you are uninstalling one of the products, be careful when you use the Remove users and groups option. Do not remove users or groups that are required by the other installations of the product. If you remove users or groups that are required by the other products, the other products will not start or they will be inoperable.

  • Starting Informix instances

To start an Informix instance, use the instance shortcut that is in the Informix program group.

Related information

  • Notice of deprecation:

The Backup to Amazon Simple Storage Services (AWS S3) provided in the ontape utility is considered deprecated and will be removed in an upcoming release. This feature will be replaced with the same REST based technology used in the Informix Primary Storage Manager, to expand coverage to other cloud providers and enhance functionality.

The onconfig parameter RSS_NONBLOCKING_CKPT is deprecated in 14.10.xC7 and will not be supported in future versions. This is replaced with SEC_NONBLOCKING_CKPT for both HDR & RSS from 14.10.xC6 version onwards.

End of life/Removal of ENCCSM from JDBC and server in future releases. Support for Encryption Communication Support Module will be removed in the future releases of Informix Dynamic Server.

End of life/Removal of GSSCSM from JDBC and server in future releases. Support for Generic Security Services Communication Support Module will be removed in the future releases of Informix Dynamic Server.

  • End of support:
    1. The Informix Storage Manager is not a valid storage manager anymore for the ON-Bar utilities. Usage of the old XBSA library with 14.10 is not supported and can lead to unpredictable results including loss of data or inability to restore.
    2. Informix Server no longer supports TLS versions 1.0 and 1.1 for network connections starting Informix Server 14.10.xC8. Currently supported TLS versions are 1.2 and 1.3.
    3. Removal of Informix Server 14.10 support for HP-UX in future releases. HP-UX support will be removed from 14.10 in a later fixpack given the end of support announcement of December 2025 for HP-UX.
    4. Removal of IBM JRE in future releases. Future releases of Informix will replace the ${INFORMIXDIR}/extend/krakatoa/jre with JAVA_HOME used at the time of installation. Customers will need to pre-install the Java JRE that will be used with Informix products.

  • Features not supported:

Rolling upgrades are not supported in IDS version 14.10.xC2 and 14.10.xC6. Migration to these versions from a previous version require changes to disk structures, and the conversion process is incompatible with a rolling upgrade. When upgrading HDR and RSS secondary servers to version 14.10.xC2 or 14.10.xC6, you must follow the steps listed in the on-line documentation under "Migrating an offline cluster to a new major version."
