DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC64825 Status: Closed

ALTER BUFFERPOOL REDUCE, STMM AND DB2STOP FORCE MAY HANG. A WRIT E SUSPEND
COULDLEAD TO THIS.

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 950 - DB2
Problem description:
SET WRITE SUSPEND has the ability to interrupt page cleaners,
but once the page cleaners had been interrupted, they did not
perform the correct sequence of disengagement, and may cause
ALTER BUFFERPOOL REDUCE or STMM to indefinitely wait on some
page latches. DB2STOP FORCE may also hang because it cannot
properly terminate some processes/threads.

The problem can happen even without a SET WRITE SUSPEND being
issued. For example if you see the following stack for the stmm
for an extended period of time, then you may have run into this
apar.
