DETECT AND USE ENHANCED STACK TRACE APIS ON HP-UX
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
DB2 uses an operating system API to collect stack trace information on HP-UX. The current implementation is feature rich but can, in some cases, consume a significant amount of memory and CPU. As a result of joint work between IBM and HP, HP will be providing a patch for HP-UX 11.23 (11i v2) and 11.31 (11i v3) that introduces an alternate, lighter weight API for this purpose. DB2 will be modified to call this new API. This APAR implements the DB2 changes required to call the new APIs on systems where they are available. On systems without the new HP APIs DB2 will continue to call the original APIs. This APAR does not introduce any new DB2 installation prerequisites. Both the DB2 changes and the HP patch must be applied before DB2 will call the new APIs. At the time of writing the HP patch numbers had not yet been determined.
