DB2UNINS -f TO UNINSTALL DB2 ON 64-BIT WINDOWS DOES NOT REMOVE REGISTRY KEY HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeIBMDB2
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
After you run the db2unins command with -the -f switch (db2unins -f) to uninstall DB2 on 64-bit Windows, the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM is still there. When you install DB2 on 64-bit Windows, it creates these Windows registry keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\DB2 When you then uninstall DB2 by using the db2unins command with the -f switch (db2unins -f), it removes the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM but does not remove the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\DB2 This APAR fix will make db2unins with the -f switch (db2unins -f) remove the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM\DB2 too.

Local Fix: | |
As a workaround you can uninstall DB2 by using the "Add or Remove Programs" item in Control Panel in Windows, or else by running db2unins without the -f switch from the bin directory of your DB2 installation directory. If you have already uninstalled DB2 in such a way that the Windows registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\IBM remains, you can remove that Windows registry key by using a tool such as regedit.
