DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT38170 Status: Closed

GROUP LOOKUP FAILING FOR GROUPS THAT CONTAIN LARGE NUMBER OF USERS

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / B50 - DB2
Problem description:
Db2 passes in a preallocated buffer to this API which is then
used by the OS as a scratchpad to enumerate the IDs belonging to
that group. getgrgid_r will return the ERANGE error if this
preallocated buffer is not big enough. Every time, we get this
error, we attempt to reallocate this buffer with twice of
current size to a maximum of 1 MB and try getgrgid_r again.
the maximum buffer size of 1 MB is not enough due to sheer
number of users belonging to the group_name group.
