When running backup operations using IBM Spectrum Protect
Snapshot on SVC, Storwize of FlashSystem devices, copies may
become invalid due to an error reported by the device:
FlashCopy stopped due to error 1910

Customer/Support Diagnostics:

IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot backup operation will end
correctly and will not report any errors. This is due to the
storage device reporting successful the copy creation status,
when in fact it is not. 1910 errors will appear in the storage
device event log and will invalidate the copy.
Due to an issue in storage hardware firmware HU02427, and
its circumvention approach, a change is introduced in IBM
Spectrum Protect Snapshot to allow delays in issuing storage
system commands. Use of delays should be limited to situation
when storage system firmware is exposed to HU02427.

Spectrum Protect Versions Affected:
IBM Spectrum Snapshot versions 8.1.x on all supported platforms
IBM Tivoli FlashCopy Manager versions 4.1.x on all supported
platforms

Install the version containing the APAR fix and edit the file
/storageadapters/svc/customparameters.cfg. Set delays:

           Name = "DELAY_BEFORE_PREPARE_DUPLICATE_SNAPSHOT"

The DELAY_BEFORE_PREPARE_FCMAP sets a delay in seconds between
the creation of all target volumes and preparing of consistency
group that contains FlashCopy maps for these volumes.
The DELAY_BEFORE_PREPARE_DUPLICATE_SNAPSHOT does the same but
for the mount case. Pay attention that in the mount case
Spectrum Protect Snapshot creates a target volume and FlashCopy
map for every pair of volumes sequentially, which can lead to
long delays and should only be set in cases when seeing error
1910 in storage device event logs during an IBM Spectrum Protect
Snapshot 'mount' operation.

The SVCDTA adapter of IBM Spectrum Protect Snapshot for UNIX has
been extended by two additional parameters which will allow
implementing a circumvention for IBM SVC storage firmware
problem ( see APAR HU02427 for more details). The parameters are
described in the "Local Fix" section of this APAR.
