Informix - Problem description
Problem IT40125 | Status: Closed |
FILE HANDLES CAN REMAIN OPEN EVEN WHEN INSERT INTO SELECT USING EXTERNAL TABLE WITH FILE PRESENT ON DISK COMPLETES.
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description: | |
When an INSERT INTO SELECT statement containing multiple joins operations on EXTERNAL TABLE is performed then we can see file handles on that table remaining even after session close. This behaviour is seen only when we are running the query with PDQPRIORITY set and server is running multiple CPU VPs. If the customer is running on UNIX servers like AIX and the external file is located on an NFS file system, then the problem arises after the user disconnects and they remove/delete the external file. Because the file did not have an appropriate close op, the F/S will create an .nfsxxx file which might be large and therefore consuming a lot of space.
