DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC61853 | Status: Closed |
Fixpack install of v9.5 IBM Data Server Runtime Client fails if there is no existing DB2 instance on Windows.
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
When applying a v9.5 IBM Data Server Runtime Client (RTCL) fixpak on a Windows machine, the fixpak upgrade install may fail with the message: "The DB2 setup Wizard was interrupted before IBM Data Server Runtime client could be completely installed." The root cause of the failure originates from the installer which fails at the function DB2SetDB2INSTANCECA, used to set the DB2INSTANCE during the install. This happens when the existing RTCL copy (at the lower fixpak level) does not have a DB2 instance when the Fixpack is installed.
Problem Summary: | |
See ERROR DESCRIPTION.
Local Fix: | |
(1) Ensure that a DB2 instance exists in the RTCL copy before applying a fixpak on it. Use the command db2ilist to list existing instances in the RTCL copy. If no instance exists prior to the fixpack installation create one using the db2icrt command: db2icrt <name of instance> (2) Since no db2 instance exists in the RTCL copy, there is no instance configuration needs to be kept. Install the RTCL at the higher fixpak to a new path. OR Uninstall the RTCL at the lower fixpak first, then install the RTCL at the higher fixpak level.
