DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC63024 | Status: Closed |
Twinning of LIKE predicate with generated BETWEEN predicate is not necessary when the column is wrapped with scalar function.

Problem description: | |
When a LIKE predicate column is wrapped with a scalar function, e.g. LOWER(A2) LIKE 'a%', we cannot take advantage of applying start/stop key with the generated BETWEEN predicate set, LOWER (A2) <= StringHighValue AND LOWER(A2) >= StringLowValue. Therefore, this fix will exclude the generation of BETWEEN predicate to twin with the original LIKE predicate. e.g. Original Statement: ------------------ select * from a where lower(a2) like 'a%' Optimized Statement: ------------------- SELECT Q1.A1 AS "A1", Q1.A2 AS "A2" FROM USER1.A AS Q1 WHERE (LOWER(Q1.A2) LIKE 'a%')
