DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC63402 | Status: Closed |
V8 DB2 ODBC DRIVER WAS UN-REGISTERED FROM ODBC ADMIN BY V9.5 DB2 DSDRIVER's UNINSTALL
product: | |
DB2 CONNECT / DB2CONNCT / 950 - DB2
Problem description: | |
On a system where v8 DB2 and V9.5 DsDriver are installed, both v8 and v9.5 DB2 ODBC drivers are configured. When the v9.5 DsDriver is uninstalled from the system, the v8 ODBC driver is also unregistered, which is not correct. For example, 1. Install following products: - DB2 V8.2 runtime client, and - DB2 V9.5 data server driver package (DsDriver) 2. The following ODBC drivers are registered and are shown in the ODBC Data Source Administrator wizard. - IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER - IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER - [DsDriver's copyName] 3. Uninstall V9.5 DsDriver by Add/Remove Programs wizard 4. There are no the ODBC data sources/drivers on odbc admin tool screen The following re-registration of "IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER" can be a workaround of no the ODBC data drivers on odbc admin tool screen. 1. Open regedit window ( start -> run as name -> regedit ) 2. Locate [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI] 3. Add new key "IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER" like the key name in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI] 4. Locate [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER] 5. Add new string value "Driver" with "C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB.v81fp18\BIN\db2cli.dll" like the string name in [...\ODBC.INI] 6. Add new string value "Setup" with "C:\Program Files\IBM\SQLLIB.v81fp18\BIN\db2odbc.dll" like the string name in [...\ODBC.INI] 7. Locate [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\ODBC Drivers] 8. Add new string value "IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER" with "Installed" 9. Close regedit window Then, you will find "IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER, 8.01.18.980" listed in odbc admin driver tab.
