DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC64033 Status: Closed

A FILE PROGRAM ON WINDOWS C: DRIVE CAUSED ERROR DURING START OF DB2
PROCESSES.

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
As soon a file named PROGRAM is available on C:\ drive DB2 could
not start processes like
db2fmp.exe anymore. You would see entries in the db2diag.log
like:

OSERR : 193 "%1 is not a valid Win32 application."

Normally this file is created by mistake and Windows will give
you a warning during startup that this file could
lead to errors.

This file would be created when output is redirected without
double quotes to a directory within c:\Program Files\
like:
dir > c:\Program Files\out.lst

Another reason when this file is created is during the
collection of support information. The db2support program
is calling under the cover idmsupport when Intelligent Miner
server part V9.5 is installed. During execution of
idmsupport the output gets redirected to C:\Program
Files\IBM\sqllib\bin and this file named "program " gets
generated on C:\ drive. Which causing trouble in running the DB2
applications.
Problem Summary:
A FILE PROGRAM ON WINDOWS C:\ DRIVE CAUSED ERROR DURING START OF
DB2 PROCESSES.
Local Fix:
It is necessary to rename the file to other name say "program1"
as a work around. To avoid that
during db2support this file is created you need to rename
idmsupport.exe to idmsupport.old which
is located in the C:\Program Files\IBM\sqllib\bin directory.
