DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC64993 | Status: Closed |
LEFT AND RIGHT SCALAR FUNCTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LEN > LEN(STR)
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 950 - DB2
Problem description: | |
The scalar functions SYSIBM.LEFT and SYSIBM.RIGHT do not allow a length argument (second argument) that is greater than the length of the string-expression (first argument). This behaviour is incompatible with SYSFUN.LEFT and SYSFUN.RIGHT. For example: $ db2 "values SYSIBM.LEFT('12345',10)" 1 ----- SQL0138N A numeric argument of a built-in string function is out of range. SQLSTATE=22011 SYSFUN.LEFT and SYSFUN.RIGHT allow the length to exceed the length of string-expression, the result is padded with blanks to the specified length.
