DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC65131 Status: Closed

SQL30082N ERROR UPON CONNECTION TO A DATABASE ON HP-UX WITH A PASSWORD
LONGER THAN 8 CHARACTERS

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
A SQL30082N error with reason code 24 is encountered when
connecting to a database on HP-UX using a password that is
greater than 8 characters in length. On HP-UX, without the
"Trusted System Security", a password that has more than 8
characters is truncated by the OS. Therefore, one can use a
password that is greater than 8 characters, but only the first 8
characters are stored by the OS.

In DB2 V9.7, an OS routine is called which supports a password
greater than 8 characters, but a mismatch occurs since the
stored encrypted password only holds the first 8 characters
while the password being compared is greater than 8 characters.
