DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC66188 Status: Closed

"MULTIPLE PRODUCTS" INSTALLATION SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED BY
"DB2_INSTALL" COMMAND IN INTERACTIVE MODE

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
When you launch "db2_install" without any parameters, it starts
in interactive mode and you will see the following message:
======================================================
Specify one of the following keywords to install DB2 products.

  ESE
  CONSV
  WSE
  CLIENT
  RTCL
======================================================

The displayed message clearly states that you must select only
one product.
However, if you enter more than one product, for example "ESE
RTCL" or "CLIENT ESE", no error is returned and the
installation will finish successfully.

The result of selecting "multiple products" is unpredictable and
you might find some files missing from the
installation path. For example selecting "ESE RTCL" might result
in the installation of "RTCL" only.

After applying the fix provided by this APAR you will receive an
error if you select "multiple products". You will not be able to
enter more than one product.
