DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC67324 | Status: Closed |
DB2START MAY TIME OUT ON A VERY LARGE SCALE SYSTEM, WHEN TRYING TO RETRIEVE THE PROCESSOR THREADING DEGREE OF THE SERVER.
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
During db2start on the AIX platform, DB2 retrieves various information about the system it's running on, including the processor threading degree of the CPU(s). The mechanism to retrieve this information can be slow on a very large scale system, which may result in db2start failure due to a time out. The fix for this APAR will use a more efficient mechanism to retrieve the same info. Note that the symptom of this problem is observed in db2start, but is not limited to it. Any time the processor threading degree is retrieved, DB2 will be slow. Also note that this symptom is limited to the AIX platform.
