DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC68381 Status: Closed

IMPORT FROM IXF FILES MAY BE SLOWER THAN EXPECTED WHEN THE ROWCOUNT
ATTRIBUTE IS SPECIFIED

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
When importing data from an IXF file and the ROWCOUNT <n>
attribute is specified, if the file contains more than <n> rows,
the import process will still need to read through the remainder
of the rows.
This is done in order to process the index information which is
stored at the end of the IXF file.

However, this reading and skipping of records that are not
required, happens in an inefficient way, which can lead to the
import being much slower than expected. ( e.g. slower than
importing all rows ).

This apar fixes this inefficiency.

Note, the SKIPCOUNT and RESTARTCOUNT IMPORT options also have
this problem.
