DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC72345 Status: Closed

POP UP MESSAGEBOX INTERFERES WITH DB2 SILENT INSTALLATION INTO AN EXISTING
DB2 COPY ON WINDOWS 7 WHEN THE -M OPTION IS USED

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
When a DB2 product is installed into an existing DB2 copy via a
response file based silent install on Windows 7 systems, if the
-m option is specified in the install command line, in addition
to the setup progress wizard, the following message might pop up
which prevents the silent install proceeding unless the user
clicks on the "OK" button on the messagebox:

"The following applications should be closed before continuing
the installation: ...", which is followed by a list of DB2
services.

This messagebox does not appear on other windows systems, such
as XP and Win2003.

This problem occurs on Windows 7. With the -m option, the
install UI level is set as INSTALLUILEVEL_BASIC, which means
"Simple progress and error handling". As the message is
generated by the windows installer's build-in function
"InstallValidate", this indicates this window installer function
has been changed in Windows 7, which does more things to handle
errors, to pop up the messagebox asking user to stop the active
DB2 service(s).
