DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC72829 Status: Closed

DB2 WILL FAIL TO UPDATE TIVOLI SA MP WHEN THE PERMANENT LICENSE IS NOT
AVAILABLE

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
The DB2 installer attempts to only update the Tivoli SA MP
product if the permanent license is available in the license
sub-directory of tsamp.

You can find out what type of license is available by following
the steps below:
/home/db2inst1/ese/db2/solaris/tsamp/license # ls
sam31tb.lic
/home/db2inst1/ese/db2/solaris/tsamp/license # grep TryAndBuy
sam31tb.lic
TryAndBuy=Yes

During the DB2 install or fix pack update, the Tivoli SA MP
update will fail with the following error in the log file:
WARNING: The DB2 installer could not automatically upgrade the
IBM Tivoli System
Automation for Multiplatforms (SA MP). The SA MP version
"3.1.0.1" installed on
your system has a permanent license while the SA MP version
"3.1.0.6" on the installation media has a Try and Buy license.
To upgrade the SA MP, see the DB2 Information Center at:
ibm.db2.luw.qb.server.doc/doc/t0051360.html"

Since version 3.1.0.6 is a fix pack update to 3.1.0.1, the
license is not necessary.

After applying the fix, Tivoli SA MP fix pack updates can be
applied automatically without the need for the permanent
license.
