DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC74294 Status: Closed

SQL QUERY COULD HANG IF INSPECT AND ALTER TABLESPACE WERE RUNNING
SIMULTANEOUSLY AGAINST THE SAME TABLE SPACE.

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
If INSPECT and ALTER TABLESPACE commands were running
simultaneously against the same table space, access to the
tables within that table space may be locked. You can notice
that when trying to query any of such tables. This is because of
double latching approach in INSPECT. Although not a problem for
INSPECT itself, it could potentially cause dead latch issue in
some cases, and running ALTER TABLESPACE at the same time with
INSPECT is one of them.
