VISUAL STUDIO ADD-IN: PRE-REQUISITE ERROR MESSAGE POPPED UP DURING SILENT INSTALL
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 910 - DB2
Problem description: | |
When Visual Studio Add-In (VSAI) detects that the appropriate Visual Studio it depends on is not installed on the system, an error message will be displayed, even VSAI is installed via a response file based silent install. Although it is correct that the VSAI install should be stopped if its pre-requisites are not met, the error messagebox should not be popped up during a silent install. It will hold an automated install process where multiple software products might be installed one after another, until someone clicks on the "OK" on the machine(s) where the VSAI silent install was executed. For your information, this error message is written in the VSAI install log in both GUI and silent installs.

Local Fix: | |
1). Install the required VisualStudio, before launching the VSAI install; or 2). VSAI Click OK button to make the message box disappear. The VSAI install fails. You need to launch the VSAI install again after the appropriate VisualStudio is installed on the system.
