DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC75593 | Status: Closed |
DB2 DESIGN ADVISOR (db2advis) MAY NOT PROVIDE CONSISTENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE SAME WORKLOAD
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
The DB2 Design Advisor (db2advis) may not provide consistent recommendations for the same workload on multiple runs. That is, when the exact same options or command-line parameters and values are supplied to db2advis at 2 separate invocations, and the exact same input workload is used, one invocation may give different recommendations than the other. This can occur if the input workload for db2advis is small and the total number of recommendation candidates generated is also small. The candidates can be of all types, i.e., index, MQT (Materialized Query Table), MDC (Multi-dimensional Clustering) and DPF (Data Partitioning Feature).
