A SQL0119 error may be returned in DB2 version 9.7 Fix Pack 4 when TO_DATE is used in a GROUP BY clause. This can happen when a format-string is specified and it is a string constant. For example: select to_date(DT, 'YYYYMMDD') from T group by to_date(DT, 'YYYYMMDD') SQL0119N An expression starting with "DT" specified in a SELECT clause, HAVING clause, or ORDER BY clause is not specified in the GROUP BY clause or it is in a SELECT clause, HAVING clause, or ORDER BY clause with a column function and no GROUP BY clause is specified.
