DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC77904 Status: Closed

LONG DATABASE CONNECT TIMES IN A DPF ENVIRONMENT DUE TO LENGTHY HOSTNAME
RESOLUTION

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
We are working on AIX 5.3 system. It is a DPF environment with
DB2 9.7 fp1.

When connecting to a database, we encounter lengthy connect
times.

The connection of the clients to the servers is very slow. They
connect with the host name
only, not with the fully qualified hostname (FQHN,
hostname@domain). The servers try to determine the FQHN by
checking a list of their DNS servers which can take up to 30
seconds
