DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC78107 | Status: Closed |
INADEQUATE INDEX LEAF PAGE READAHEAD DONE DURING REORG INDEX CLEANUP ONLY LEADING TO POOR PERFORMANCE
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
The "reorg index for table .... cleanup only" option uses a readahead algorithm to asynchronously load index leaf pages into the bufferpool. However, there is a problem with readahead algorithm causing it to not prefetch all of the pages that it should when the index contains an extremely large number of duplicate records. Hence the db2agent processing the cleanup operation needs to synchronously load too many pages into the bufferpools, leading to bad performance of the reorg command.
