DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC78968 | Status: Closed |
AUTOMATIC RESTART OF DB2 ON REBOOT BY DB2FMCD DOES NOT WORK ON SOLARIS 10
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
Due to the fact that DB2 uses db2fmcd entry in /etc/inittab to start DB2 instances, and on Solaris 10 /etc/inittab should no longer be used for starting applications, instead Service Management Facility (SMF) should be used to stop/start the applications including DB2. This APAR is to use SMF (instead of deprecated inittab) to startup, respawn and stop db2fmcd through SMF. So Live Update of the OS would be handled more smoothly as the OS will be able to stop/start the db2fmcd service itself as a maintenance step.
