DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC79975 | Status: Closed |
EXCESSIVE DIAGNOSTIC LOGGING AND DUMPING FROM MULTIPLE DB2 PARTITIONS WHEN ONE PARTITION ABENDS
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 950 - DB2
Problem description: | |
When one DB2 partition traps or abends, DB2 intentionally terminates all partitions on the same machine. The termination mechanism initially removes all IPC resources from the other partitions, resulting in many agents or EDUS executing error paths. This results in excessive logging to the db2diag.log and diagnostic dumps, including possible multiple large coredumps. This APAR will result in a cleaner shutdown in DPF environments, significantly reducing the diagnostics generated in this scenario which are not directly relevant to the main problem.
