PROBLEM WITH REORGCHK FORMULA F6
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
There is a problem with reogchk's F6 formula. The formula tries to determine if the index can be reduce by 1 level if it were reorganized. The formula doesn't account for the extra overhead in an index's root page, where we store, among other things, the index definition. The more key parts you have, the bigger the index definition structure, the less room in the root page for keys and therefore the less leaf pages the index can have using (NLEVELS-1) levels in the tree.
