DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC84287 Status: Closed

DB2 INSTANCE MAY CRASH WHEN REMOVING TAUTOLOGY PREDICATES DURING QUERY
REWRITE

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A10 - DB2
Problem description:
There is a component in DB2 compiler called Query ReWrite (QRW)
which rewrites the customer queries
to improve performance.

One of the rewrites performed is removal of tautology
predicates.
Under rare scenarios, DB2 may trap with SIGSEGV (Signal #11)
while trying to remove these predicates.

Conditions for hitting the problem:
1. The query involves one or more of tautology predicates
2. The columns involved in the predicates in 1, are also part of
generated column definition.

The following stack trace will be reported in the trap file:

5 sqlnr_remove_tautology_prd
6 sqlnr_optprep
7 sqlnr_optprep_action
8 sqlnr_comp
9 sqlnr_seq
10 sqlnr_rcc
11 sqlnr_exe
12 sqlnn_cmpl
13 sqlnn_cmpl
