DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC86068 | Status: Closed |
SYSTEM MODULE ROUTINE DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER MAY INCORRECTLY REMOVE ACTIVE ALERTS.
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
The system module DBMS_ALERT is used to send alerts between applications. Each alert must be registered with the DBMS_ALERT.REGISTER routine. If an application disconnects, then any alerts that were associated to that application are no longer active. During the register process, db2 will clean up any old alerts from previous applications that have since disconnected. However, if multiple alerts are registered from different applications concurrently with specific timing, then there is a logic problem that might (depending on specific timing) result in removing an active registered alert for an application that is currently connected. This will result in the failure to signal or wait for the alert that was incorrectly removed. The problem is more likely to occur on (but not limited to), a DPF instance.
