DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC87449 Status: Closed

POTENTIAL SLOW LOAD PERFORMANCE WITH MDC/RP TABLE AND GPFS DUE TO
MISALIGNED MEMORY BUFFER

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A10 - DB2
Problem description:
When running DB2 LOAD operations into MDC and/or Range
Partitioned tables that reside on GPFS file system, we might see
slow performance together with high GPFS CPU usage. This is
caused by some LOAD code using "non-aligned memory buffer" to do
GPFS Direct I/O.

(Similar code problem potentially exists for regular (non-MDC
and non-RP) tables, but to a much smaller extent; in practice
there should be negligible performance issue with regular
tables.)
