DB2 - Problem description

DELETE QUERY FAILS WITH -901 ERROR "EMPTY PLAN LIST DETECTED!"

Problem description:
Customer gets the -901 error intermittently when running the 
delete below: 
 
DELETE FROM p 
  WHERE p_id = (SELECT t_id 
                       FROM   p 
                       WHERE  o_t_id = (SELECT t_id 
                                               FROM   l 
                                               WHERE  l_name = 
'fl.xxx') 
                       AND    name = 'xxxxx' 
                       AND    email = 'xxxxx'); 
 
After too many executions the query crashes the database.
