DB2 - Problem description
Problem IC94286 | Status: Closed |
DB2 BACKUP IMAGE MAY MISS AUTOMATIC STORAGE INFORMATION
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
DB2 uses two control files to track information about configured AUTOMATIC STORAGE path. The files are named SQLSGF.1 and SQLSGF.2 and are located in the local database directory. There might be external cicrumstances, like file system problems, where these files could become corrupted (i.e file size is 0 byte). In such a scenario a db2 backup command might still succeed leaving the customer under the impression that this is a good backup image. However, such a backup can not be restored anymore. DB2 restore might fail with the following message in db2diag.log: 2013-07-17-10.24.33.393835+120 I46154A517 LEVEL: Severe PID : 57606144 TID : 74347 PROC : db2sysc 0 INSTANCE: db2v976 NODE : 000 EDUID : 74347 EDUNAME: db2bm.17487.0 (SAMPLE) 0 FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, buffer pool services, sqlbGetStoragePaths, probe:3 MESSAGE : ZRC=0x8702002F=-2029912017=SQLB_INVPARM "invalid parameter" DIA8544C An invalid data type was encountered, the value was "". DATA #1 : String, 36 bytes Error occured while retrieving paths This APAR is opened to enhance DB2 backup code to detect such problems by doing some additional sanity checks when performing the DB2 backup.
