DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC95549 Status: Closed

TRANSLATE FUNCTION RETURNS WRONG DATA TYPE WITH MIXED GRAPHIC/NON-GRAPHIC
ARGS

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A50 - DB2
Problem description:
The SYSIBM.TRANSLATE built-in function may return the wrong data
type when input arguments are a mix of graphic and non-graphic
types. As documented in the DB2 Information Centre, the data
type and code page of the result is the same as the data type
and code page of the first argument. For example:

TRANSLATE( CHAR, GRAPHIC, VARGRAPHIC )
should return CHAR but returns GRAPHIC

TRANSLATE( VARCHAR, GRAPHIC, VARGRAPHIC )
should return VARCHAR but returns VARGRAPHIC

TRANSLATE( GRAPHIC, VARCHAR, VARCHAR )
should return GRAPHIC but returns CHAR

TRANSLATE( VARGRAPHIC, VARCHAR, VARCHAR )
should return VARGRAPHIC but returns VARCHAR
