DB2 PURESCALE ONLINE FIXPACK UPDATES: SHORT HOSTNAMES CAUSE ONLINE FIXPACK UPDATE TO FAIL |

| Problem description: |
If a DB2 pureScale V10.5 GA or V10.5 Fixpack 1 instance is
created using short hostnames , then online fixpack update will
fail.
The following is an example of a db2nodes.cfg file which has
been generated for a DB2 pureScale instance using short host
names:
cat db2nodes.cfg
0 coralpib265 0 coralpib265-ib0 - MEMBER
1 coralpib266 0 coralpib266-ib0 - MEMBER
128 coralpib267 0 coralpib267-ib0 - CF
129 coralpib268 0 coralpib268-ib0 - CF
In contrast, the following is an example of a db2nodes.cfg file
which has been generated for a DB2 pureScale instance using
fully qualified domain names:
cat db2nodes.cfg
0 coralpib265.torolab.ibm.com 0 coralpib265-ib0.torolab.ibm.com
- MEMBER

| Local Fix: |
If the online update has not yet been attempted and the customer
pureScale environment allows, dropping the instance and
recreating using fully qualified domain hostnames will avoid the
problem. For example, short hostname "hostname" should be
replaced with the fully qualified domain hostname
"hostname.ibm.com". |
