SLOW PERFORMANCE IN SQLHAAMIINCLUSTERENVIRONMENT IN DPF ENVIRONMENTS DUE TO UNNECESSARY FILE LOCKING ATTRIBUTE
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description: | |
At times e.g. database activation, update of the database config ... DB2 may need to know if the Instance is running in a HA envionment. To do this it has a function, sqlhaAmIinClusterEnvironment If the dbm cfg value CLUSTER_MGR is set, then this function will open and exclusively lock a HA file that exists in the instance directory. In a ( large ) DPF environment, with the instance home directory mounted, this may lead to long delays as access to the file is effectively serialized. A stack trace may show this : __fcntl + 0x0082 sqloflock + 0x0106 sqloopenp + 0x05ea HAReg3GetEmPvS0_ + 0x0037 sqlhaGetPolicyR5HARegR16_sqlhaPolicyType + 0x00f9 sqlhaGetPolicyTypeFromSysFileP16_sqlhaPolicyType + 0x0215 sqlhaAmIinClusterEnvironmentPbP9sqlf_kcfd + 0x057c sqlf_upd_parmP11db2CfgParamP10sqlf_dbcfdPcP13SQLP_LH_PARMSS2_jP5 sqlcaPKcPb + 0x01e6 sqlfIntUpdateDbCfgPKcS0_P6db2CfgP5sqlca + 0x03a4
