DB2 - Problem description

Problem IC98755 Status: Closed

SEGV ENCOUNTERED DURING LOAD WHEN TABLE HAS MANY RANGE PARTITIONS DEFINED

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / 970 - DB2
Problem description:
Segv can be encountered while processing a load that is
operating on a range partitioned table. The segv can occur in
both normal load processing, as well as during replay of load
during crash recovery.

Segv will only occur if there are greater than 1070 objects
defined in the range partitioned table.

The number of objects for a table varies depending on the
definition of the range partitioned table.

The multiplier can be determined by adding the following
+1 for the base table
+1 if there is at least one partitioned index defined
+1 if the table includes long varchar columns
+1 if the table uses organize by clause (MDC)
+1 if the table includes XML columns
+2 if the table includes LOB columns

The number of objects is the multiplier times the number of
ranges defined in the partition by range clause of the create
table statement.

When the segv is encountered, the db2diag.log will contain the
following entry
