Informix - Problem description

Problem IT03156 Status: Closed

POTENTIAL PAGE ZERO CORRUPTION BY ONMODE -C BLOCK

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
It has been observed that after an 'onmode -c block' the free
counter of root chunk's page zero is zero. So the page header
no longer is intact and any future flushing of this page to
disk, e.g. for an increased "Maximum server connections" value,
would cause the root chunk and the server to go down.

You can determine this corruption in an 'oncheck -pP 1 0' output
whose 'frcnt' value is zero.

This can go unnoticed for a long while on a primary or standard
server, but a level 0 restore or a backup of such corrupted
system, e.g. for setting up a secondary server, would cause
assertions soon after it finished.
