Informix - Problem description
Problem IT04603 | Status: Closed |
ONSTAT -G DDR OUTPUT HAS CONFUSING OUTPUT THAT NEEDS BETTER TEXT
product: | |
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description: | |
When a dba runs the command 'onstat -g ddr', part of the output can reveal a phrase that is confusing: "Dynamic log requests ignored due to full CDR_QDATA_SBSPACE: 0" This information is used to help show settings, status, and statistics. This statement is very unclear, especially when the engine is idle and DYNAMIC_LOGS is off. After reviewing this with development, this would be much clearer with phrasing such as: "Dynamic logs not configured." when DYNAMIC_LOGS is off. also recommended: consider different phrasing than "..requests ignored due to full CDR_QDATA_SBSPACE: 0" Effectively, if the space is not full or not approaching full, this message should not be displayed.

Local Fix: | |
Solution | |
The output of the onstat -g ddr command is improved for IBM Informix Server 12.10.xC5. The user will now see output similar to: CDR_LOG_LAG_ACTION dlog requests: 0 (not configured). if the "dlog" action is not configured for the CDR_LOG_LAG_ACTION parameter and output similar to: CDR_LOG_LAG_ACTION dlog requests: 0 (0 full CDR_QDATA_SBSPACE). if the "dlog" action is configured.
