DB2 - Problem description
Problem IT05206 | Status: Closed |
DB2_FMP_COMM_HEAPSZ DOES NOT PROPERLY SET FMP HEAP/SET SIZE FOR VALUES < 256MB
product: | |
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A50 - DB2
Problem description: | |
The virtual shared memory allocation for FMP memory on UNIX was increased to 256MB on DB2 version 9.5. (the documentation will be corrected as it indicates a smaller value for non-AIX platforms). It may be desirable to set DB2_FMP_COMM_HEAPSZ to override the default setting to a lower value for small-footprint instances on consolidated systems, and this should be honored as documented (as it is when setting a value higher than 256MB - 65536 4K pages). This is more relevant for operating systems where the virtual shared memory allocation counts towards some resource or limit - swap and shared memory limits on Solaris, HP-UX, or shmall shared memory virtual limit on Linux.
