Informix - Problem description

Problem IT06035 Status: Closed

ONRESTOREPT CLEARS LOGS LEAVING SNOOPY THREAD STUCK ON AN EMPTY LOGICAL LOG

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
CONVERSION_GUARD is enabled. You upgrade your database server
but the upgrade fails. You run onrestorept. Part of the
onrestorept process clears the logical logs that had information
from the newer version. ER is used on this database server and
was shutdown in the prescribed manner. Onrestorept cleared the
logical log where the snoopy thread (ddr_snoopy) wanted to
resume snooping. The database server can continue it's work but
snoopy cannot advance due to the logical log being cleared.
There are no errors, warnings, or messages indicating a problem.

Local Fix:
After shutting down ER ( before the upgrade ) make sure you
advance to the next logical log ( onmode -l ) in case you need
to run onrestorept.
Solution
To start Enterprise Replication after the onrestorept utility
restores the database server to a consistent state, you must use
the cdr cleanstart command.
Workaround
not known / see Local fix
