DB2 - Problem description

Problem IT09406 Status: Closed

DB2 PREFETCHER INITIATES PANIC AND SHUTDOWN OF INSTANCE IN SQLDA
SSERTOBJEXISTS REPORTING INVALID BMPEXISTS LATCH IN DB2DIAG.LOG

product:
DB2 FOR LUW / DB2FORLUW / A50 - DB2
Problem description:
A DB2 prefetcher (db2pfchr) thread may initiate a panic and
shutdown of the DB2 instance after detecting an abnormal latch
state. This problem is indicated by a db2diag.log message
dumped at the time of the panic showing the following:

(1) the message reports a "Attempting to unlock an invalid
latch" string, with a ZRC line referencing
"SQLO_LATCH_ERROR_EXPECTED_HELD"

(2) the message references the bmpExist latch in the identity
field of the diagnostic message

(3) the stack information dumped along with the diagnostic
message shows the sqldAssertObjExists function.

An example message will resemble the following:
