Informix - Problem description

Problem IT09609 Status: Closed

RSAM MEMORY POOL CORRUPTION RUNNING UPDATE STATISTICS ON TABLE WITH
USTLOW_SAMPLE ENABLED (SET TO 1)

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
With certain types of indexes the low sample feature has
problems which leads to corrupting a block in the RSAM pool.
The trigger seems to be a composite unique index where the lead
column of the index has only 1 value for the entire table.

This corruption can be seen with onstat -g mem output when
looking at the rsam pool, it's size could be nonsensical (ie
larger then all of shared memory on the instance), if the table
were to be dropped, it would then lead to block header
corruption assertion failures.
