Informix - Problem description

Problem IT10605 Status: Closed

WRONG RESULT RETURNED IF LEFT OUTER JOIN ANSI SQL SYNTAX USED AND DEFAULT
SQL_FEAT_CTRL 0X8000 BIT IS NOT SET

product:
INFORMIX SERVER / 5725A3900 / C10 - IDS 12.10
Problem description:
During the test of defect APAR IT04651 it was found that the
reproduction returned the wrong result with SQL_FEAT_CTRL set to
0x2000008. The same reproduction was run against 12.10.FC5 and
there also the wrong result was returned.

This issue is only happening if SQL_FEAT_CTRL set to 0x2000008.
From the reproduction, the problem query should return 2 rows,
one NULL row and one row with actual data.

With SQL_FEAT_CTRL set to 0x2000008, we only get one row back,
i.e the data row - the NULL row is missing.

The reproduction returned the expected result set (2 rows) with
SQL_FEAT_CTRL set to 0x2008008 and default SQL_FEAT_CTRL
(0x8008)

* USERS AFFECTED:                                              *
* Users of 12.10.xC2 through 12.10.xC5.                        *

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
* A query in ANSI OUTER JOIN format may return incorrect *
* results under the following conditions: *
* - query is in ANSI OUTER JOIN format, with at least one *
* subservient table, e.g. tab1                                 *
* - query has a NOT EXISTS subquery in the WHERE clause *
* - the NOT EXISTS subquery is a correlated subquery, which *
* has an equality predicate on the subservient table in the *
* main query, e.g. tab1.col1 = subq_tab.col1                   *
*   - the undocumented ONCONFIG parameter SQL_FEAT_CTRL is     *
* explicitly set in the ONCONFIG file, and the bit pattern *
* it's set to does not include 0x8000 bit *
****************************************************************
* RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
* Update to IBM Informix Server 12.10.xC6 *
