SQL0420N (SQLCODE -420)

Problem description:
A graphic or vargraphic expression used as input to the CAST 
function which outputs a numeric type may lead to an 
SQL0420N (SQLCODE -420). 
 
This can occur if numeric type is any of SMALLINT, INTEGER, 
BIGINT or DECIMAL.

Local Fix:
Use the synonym [SMALLINT, INTEGER, BIGINT, 
DECIMAL](<var/graphic-expression>) functions instead of the 
CAST function.
