ENHANCEMENT FOR CHECKPOINT PROCESSING

| Problem description: |
The initial phase of checkpoint processing will block all
threads from entering critical section whilst a number of
actions are performed. One of these actions is to write out the
dbspace and chunk reserved pages. Where there are a large number
of dbspace and/or chunks this activity may represent a
significant proportion of the blocking time due to the way in
which the pages are written.
By performing the page writes in larger blocks the efficiency
may be improved leading to a reduction in time required. |
