Informix - Problem description
Problem IC56611 | Status: Closed |
FILE/SOCKET DESCRIPTORS REACH 32,768 ON PRIMARY WITH RSS REPLICATION WHEN RSS NODE DEMOTED FROM HDR SECONDARY
product: | |
IBM IDS / 5724L2300 / B15 - IDS 11.50
Problem description: | |
Once the file/socket descriptors reach 32,768 IDS incorrectly closes the RSS replication network sockets, leaving socket descriptors allocated and not permitting new connections. Other relevant information Typical messages in online.log, after IDS reaches the limit of file descriptors per process: 11:56:07 (235381) sockets error - registering a file 11:56:07 listener-thread: err = 0: oserr = 0: errstr = : 11:56:07 (235382) sockets error - registering a file 11:56:07 listener-thread: err = 0: oserr = 0: errstr = : Typical output of LSOF for master IDS process (CPU VP #1): /usr/sbin/lsof -p 14433.
Problem Summary: | |
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * IDS 11.10 and 11.50 HDR users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * When a primary node loses connection to a HDR secondary * * node, the primary will periodically try to reconnect. The * * reconnection may encounter an error condition and leave the * * connection open. Running onstat -g ntu will show a high * * number of opened network connections. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * Upgrade to IDS 11.10.xC3, 11.50.xC5 and above. * ****************************************************************
