Problem description:
An alter fragment attach partition command executed on a table 
causes the Informix Dynamic Server (IDS) to assert failure,

alter fragment on table call_details attach cdrpartn20080621 as 
partition cdrpartn20080621 (call_date = "06/21/2008") before 
cdrpartn20080620;

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 
The users can see a Informix Dynmic Server (IDS) abend due to a 
memory corruption, when they tried to execute an alter table 
attach fragment.  This occurs especially in the case where the 
attached fragment has detached indexes which the IDS decides to 
reuse.

RECOMMENDATION: 
Please upgrade to the latest 11.50 IDS version.

Local Fix:


Solution


The problem was first fixed in 11.50.xC2 where the alter table 
attach fragment command will not cause the abend while reusing 
the detached indexes of the attaching table.
