Overview

Db2 11.5.4 extends its offering portfolio with the introduction of the new IBM Db2 Base Edition V11.5.4 as perpetual and monthly software licenses for production and nonproduction use. Db2 Base Edition is designed for small-to-medium-sized projects and to help developer and business partner communities. While Db2 Base Edition offers the same functionality as the IBM Db2 Advanced and IBM Db2 Standard editions, it is restricted in the size of the deployment.

Db2 Base Edition can use a maximum of 8 Virtual Processor Cores and 64 GB of RAM.

Db2 11.5.4 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows brings more flexibility with an improved portfolio that features a simplified set of four editions with one charge metric for production. The four editions are:

  • Db2 Community Edition.
  • Db2 Base Edition.
  • Db2 Standard Edition.
  • Db2 Advanced Edition.

All four editions have the full feature capabilities of Db2, making it easier to choose the right edition with the capabilities and tools that are required to meet your organization's data management needs.

Db2 editions for production and non-production deployment

Switching between editions is easier than ever, with the capability to purchase and exchange the license file without any additional installation.

Db2 Community Edition is free to use. It features a limit of 4 processor cores, 16 GB RAM, and 100 GB storage per database. It is available only with community support. No paid support is available for this edition.

Db2 Base Edition includes perpetual and monthly licenses for production and nonproduction use. It features a limit of 8 processor cores and 64 GB RAM and includes IBM support. Db2 Base Edition can be licensed based on Virtual Processor Core metric.

Db2 Standard Edition includes perpetual and monthly licenses for production and nonproduction use. It features a limit of 16 processor cores and 128 GB RAM and includes IBM support. Db2 Standard Edition can be licensed based on Virtual Processor Core metric for production and Authorized User metric for nonproduction use.

Db2 Advanced Edition includes perpetual and monthly licenses for production and nonproduction use. It has no limitations enforced on core, memory, or storage resources. Db2 Advanced Edition can be licensed based on Virtual Processor Core metric for production and Authorized User metric for nonproduction use.
