Latest News: NSI changes to CURSOR-XPS

We have combined our service and support capabilities for high-performance databases with the system-oriented tool development of Nonne & Schneider.

Starting July 4th, 2024, you can find us under one roof: CURSOR Expert Solutions GmbH.

CURSOR Expert Solutions will seamlessly continue all business activities of Nonne & Schneider, but will also take over the development of the CURSOR Admin-Scout. Our extensive portfolio of services and support will in future be offered via CURSOR Expert Solutions.

This consolidates our expertise in Solution Management, both personnel-wise and organizationally, at one location. The executive board will be expanded with Erik Stahlhut, and „XPS“ will remain as a subsidiary within the CURSOR Software AG group in Giessen.

For customers and partners of CURSOR Service Distribution, initially, little will change. All active contracts and agreements remain valid. Your points of contact do not change.

IBM license information for Informix

License informations are only one part of IBM licensing!!

IBM software licensing is usually based on the interaction of several contractual components.

One of the most important components is the license information (LI), supported by the "International Program License Agreement" (IPLA). The IPLA regulates the principles of licensing internationally and across all programs, while the program-specific conditions are defined in the license information.

For a complete view of licensing, IBM summarizes the documents of an order. In addition to the license information, the order documents also include documents such as offers, proof of entitlement and invoices from IBM. Additional customer-specific agreements can supplement the provisions of the IPLA or the LI and then take precedence.

Which license information is the right one?

IBM publishes new license information for each software release. When updates are installed, the software and license terms migrate in the same way; the terms for the release of the installed software apply in each case.

IBM occasionally carries out brand realignments and name changes for software products. Therefore, the license information of older or newer versions may have different names.

IBM Informix product lines

From small boxes to global companies

Embedded in hardware, Informix starts with an installation size of 80 MB (megabytes). Based on this, the special architecture allows dynamic scaling up to high-performance - zero-downtime applications and large databases with terabytes of data.

The Informix Advanced Editions extend the high-end transaction processing with analytic in memory warehouse functions. Transactional workloads and business analytics - even of large corporations - can be executed simultaneously within one database system.

Editions for all types of applications

Informix is the first enterprise database system that is technologically suitable for IoT, Industry 4.0, transactional OLTP and analytic OLAP.

To meet different needs of customers, applications and performance, IBM offers a wide range of editions and licensing models for Informix. Starting with the free editions for the community or for developers, the Express Edition starts with just 260,- EURO per user. The Workgroup Edition, which is of particular interest for medium-sized applications, is offered at around EUR 550,-  per user. For most editions, licensing is available via Authorized User or Processor Value Units.

  • An acquisition requires a registration and recognition of the holder as ESA/ISV/TP by the IBM (IBM ISV/TP declaration of accession).
  • The Licensing occurs only on the basis of a guilty, between the IBM and the license holder.
  • The licensee (ISV/TP) is obliged to combine the IBM products with their own products or special services and distribute.
